  • Experience

In 2012 I started my career in the NYC Shelter System, this was profound experience, I learned a lot during my 6 years with the shelter and still feel a strong tie to the homeless community. During my time in the shelter I gained a lot of experience and working with people with trauma connected with me most. I wanted to continue work with trauma in a deeper more impactful way.

In 2018 I transitioned into private practice and began training in prolonged exposure therapy, a gold standard treatment for PTSD symptoms. I now specialize in exposure therapy for adults with trauma, anxiety disorders and obsessive compulsive disorder.

  • Hear from a client

I received therapy from Julia for about 5 years, and I highly recommend her to anyone struggling with anxiety.  She offers a great balance of internal "let's examine that thought" strategies and external "what can we do to not let the anxiety affect us" tasks. She was equally helpful to me on days where there were a lot of stressors in my life, and on days where it seemed like everything was going pretty well. I always felt like Julia was easy to talk to, like we never ran out of topics to cover, and like I was building skills for my anxiety even on good days. -anonymous

  • Client Testimonial

I worked with Julia for 3.5 years through a number of major life transitions in my professional and personal life. I am confident that my work with Julia has helped me to understand myself, my emotions, and my anxiety much more clearly and completely. I feel empowered to tackle challenging situations rather than avoiding them or neglecting what's best for me. Julia's approach to therapy challenged me to work through difficult things and I always felt fully supported by her as she very intentionally and thoughtfully supported me throughout. I can't recommend her practice enough. - AR

  • What's therapy like with Julia?

I have been a client of Julia's for the past six years. I was diagnosed with OCD when I was 8 years old but have been in remission for 15 years. When I came to Julia I was starting to allow OCD to creep back into my life and she helped me get back on track. My remission is maintained because of the support Julia gives me. She knows me inside and out and is the best sounding board for someone who hates talking about their emotions. Julia is responsive and will try her best to be available if I need her outside of our usual appointments. I always leave our sessions with some sort of "ah ha" moment accomplished. I don't know how she does it, but I'm glad she does. - Leslie
